“We can't be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in, but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea. Holding onto something that is good for you now, may be the very reason why you don't have something better.” -- C. JoyBell
Have you heard the latest news? On February 2014, SFI also known as Strong Future International had been hacked and cyber crook made away with thousands of credit card information of its customers and affiliates. This incident provides yet another reminder that you must never be complacent about our computer security.
In the early days, such action were almost unheard off and they were more likely to be pranks or intimidation. However, today’s cyber crooks are doing it more for monetary gain or sabotage and it can even be deem as a terrorist act. Cyber security has become a topic that no organization or financial institution can afford to ignore. Even industries involved with Industrial Controls were not spared ( the Stuxnet incident ).
Majority of business transactions today are conducted online using computers as well as mobile devices. Because of such activities, the rise of internet crimes seems endless. With the emergence of computer malware such as Viruses, Worms, Spyware/Adware, Trojans and many others we are constantly placing ourselves at risk by going online or surfing the web.Â
“The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.” ? Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture
